Joan Marie (Delahunt) Viviano

Joan M. Viviano passed away in North Myrtle Beach surrounded by family and the sound of the ocean. She was born in Nova Scotia, where she grew up in foster care after losing her mother at a young age. As a teen, she played the trumpet and spent four years training as a sister in the Salvation Army prior to attending secretarial school and moving to Ontario. During that time, she first met Nita and Art Edwards who later sponsored her to come to the United States and live with them in Warren, Michigan as a young adult.

Joan’s professional life included working for a bank in Ontario, a publishing agency in Detroit, and later in the family business alongside her husband of 25 years, Norman Viviano. In the early 2000s she retired to South Carolina coast, where she enjoyed watching the tides and visiting with friends. The pride and joy of the last years of her life was her only grandchild. Joan will be remembered and missed by her friends and family for her strong spirit, life-long flare for decorating, and deep passion for her schnauzers. 

Preceded by her husband, parents, and foster parents. Survived by her brother, three children, and one grandchild.
