Joan Carolyn Lettrick, aged 90, passed away peacefully the morning of December 19, 2025, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Born on May 4, 1935, Joan grew up in Watervliet, New York and graduated from Watervliet High School. She chose a path that centered around family, becoming a cherished mother and homemaker. Her home was full of beauty and the irresistible aroma of her cooking. Joan had a fun sense of humor and was a cherished friend to many.
Joan was known for her compassion toward animals, regularly taking long walks with her dogs, and caring for three to four stray cats at a time or other animals in need, such as a wild blue jay, crow, and skunk.
In addition to her love of animals, Joan was a beacon of kindness, humor and warmth. She enjoyed volunteering at her church, reading, and laughing while playing games with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters Karen (Paul) Colello and Suzanne Lettrick; son Robert Lettrick, Jr.; brother Richard (Dolores) Such; grandchildren Matthew Colello, Rachel (Alex) Gerik, Katie (Michelle) Gladding, and Kayla (Nick) Whiting; and great-grandchildren Jonathan Colello, Sebastian Whiting, and Molly May Colello. Joan was preceded in death by her son Ronald Gladding, her father Stanley Such, Sr., her mother Carolyn Drosky Such, and her brother Stanley Such, Jr.
