Obituary

Jerry Matthews, 60, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind family and friends who will forever remember him in their own special ways.

Jerry was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent many years working for Cooper Mechanical. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic and determination. Much of his life was devoted to providing through his career, and those who worked alongside him knew him as someone who could always be counted on.

When Jerry wasn’t working, he found happiness in the simple things. He loved spending time fishing, caring for his animals, and hosting cookouts where family and friends could gather together. One of the ways he showed his love was by feeding others. Whether he was standing over the grill or preparing a meal, Jerry enjoyed bringing people together, sharing good food, and creating memories with those around him.

His faithful dog, Forest, was one of his greatest companions. Their bond was unbreakable, and it was Jerry’s wish for Forest to be cremated with him, a final testament to the love they shared.

Jerry is survived by his children, Tiffany Matthews, Jake Matthews, Mallory Matthews, Chase Matthews, Kasey Matthews, John Matthews, and Jonah Matthews. He also leaves behind three cherished grandchildren, William Matthews, Matthew Hartmann, and Davis Matthews, as well as his beloved sister, Kimberly Kay Matthews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Matthews Sr. and Jenette Matthews.

Although Jerry’s passing came far too soon, the memories he created will remain with those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his generosity, his love of the outdoors, and the joy he found in gathering family and friends around a meal. His legacy lives on in the stories shared, the lessons learned, and the lives he touched.

The family finds comfort in knowing that Jerry is now at peace. May his memory continue to bring strength, comfort, and love to all who knew him
