Born May 22, 1931 in Mt Croghan, SC, the youngest daughter of the late Ross Guin & Mildred Baker Atkinson. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Ross Guin Atkinson, Jr and Wilson Kay Atkinson. Her sister, Betty Lula Atkinson. Her husband of 56 years, John Wesley (J.W.) Shaw and her daughter, Darlene Shaw Cooper.
She has previously resided in Cheraw, SC and Greer, SC before moving to Myrtle Beach in the late 70s. An integral part of helping her husband, J.W., open and operate the first Chick-fil-A in the area, she ran the kitchen cooking everything from scratch.
She is survived by her son and primary caregiver, John Wesley Shaw, Jr., a granddaughter, Amanda Cooper Owens (Brandon), a grandson Ryan Kent Cooper (Natalie), a great- grandson Bennett Ryan Cooper, and her Son-in-law, Kent Allan Cooper. The family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Maria and Teresa for their care and compassion.
Graveside service will be at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery on April 10th at 2pm
