Janice Hart Olds, 75, of Briarcliffe Arces, SC, died at her home on Sunday, February 9 due to an inoperable heart condition. She was born in Scranton, PA in 1949. She grew up in Endicott, NY and Bowie, MD and was in the first graduating class at Bowie High School in Bowie, MD. Janice was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol while growing up in Maryland. She married Terry J. Olds on March 22, 1969 and settled in Manassas, VA. Janice later attended Georgetown University receiving a Paralegal Degree. Janice worked for many institutions including Mendle Rivers law firm in Charleston, SC, the Department of Housing Development in Washington, DC, MITRE Corporation, the Naval Underwater Research Center, and Northrup Grumman Corporation. Upon retirement, Janice settled in Briarcliffe Acres, SC and was active in the neighborhood. She loved to travel and was an animal lover and caring pet owner and she particularly loved her cats.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Terry J. Olds; her son and his spouse, Christopher Olds and Jessica Miller Olds of Pawleys Island, SC; her grandchildren, Mary Martin Olds, William Olds and Richard Miller, Jr., all of Pawleys Island, SC; her brother and his spouse, Jerry and Jean Hart of Yorktown, VA; her nieces and nephews and their spouses, Brad Hart of Woodbridge, VA, Jenifer and Todd Edelman of Monroe, NJ, and Venus and Dennis Denk of Chula Vista, CA; and her sister-in-law, Francis Olds of North Myrtle Beach, SC.
Janice was predeceased by her parents, Dan and Marie Hart of North Myrtle Beach, SC, and her sister-in-law, Sheila Hamilton of Myrtle Beach, and brother-in-law, Mike Olds of North Myrtle Beach, SC, and her father and mother in-law Lawrence and Opal Olds.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make donations to the Humaine Society of North Myrtle Beach. No funeral service planned at this time. Thank you to all the residents of Briarcliffe Acres who provided food, comfort, support, cards, communications and frequent visits.
