James "Jimmy" Gabriel Obituary

Mr. James “Jimmy” Madison Gabriel, 67, of North Myrtle Beach, SC and formerly of Cleveland, NC, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2022 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center surrounded by family.

He is the son of the late Barney Sigmon Gabriel and Ellen Yates Gabriel.

He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Angel Gabriel.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy of 44 years; step-son, Joshua Culler (Felicia); son, Kenneth Gabriel; two granddaughters, Chloe and Alexa; grandson, Brody; son-in-law, Brandon Griffin; four brothers, Gary Gabriel (Cindy), Danny Gabriel (Gina), Perry Gabriel, and Henry Gabriel, many close friends; and his close feline companion, Old Man, whom he loved very much.

Jimmy was an avid bowler and loved riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles.  He enjoyed doing his own repairs before calling someone else. He was an “Old School Biker” who also enjoyed shooting, canoeing, and camping. But his most loved activity was spending time with his family and friends.  One activity he really enjoyed was attending Grateful Dead concerts with his buddies.

He was a welder by trade, but got into construction after moving to Myrtle Beach, SC.  He continued in construction in the beachwear industry  traveling to do yearly remodeling before being disabled in 2000 due to pancreatic cancer, which he survived for nearly 22 years.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Network or the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach.
