Obituary

James Ronnie “Ron” Sherrill, 85, of Surfside Beach, SC went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, August 14th at his home in Surfside Beach, SC.

Ron was born June 20, 1941, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina to the late James Roland Sherrill and Margie Colleen Cauble Sherrill.  He was also preceded in death by his wife Bev Yelton Sherrill, the mother of his children, Sylvia Mann Sherrill and sister Janis Sherrill Ghairi. 

Ron attended Concord High School.  He served as an aircraft mechanic during the Vietnam War.  He was a proud business owner of Concord Boating in Kannapolis, NC.  He had a love for Corvettes and restored many in his lifetime.  Collecting coins, scuba diving and metal detecting were a few of his hobbies.

He was a devoted husband and father and endeared his family and friends with unconditional love, kindness, and a huge heart.  Family was everything to him and you knew that just by talking to him.  Ron’s love was everlasting and will forever live in our hearts.

Survivors included, daughter, Debbie Hunsucker (Chris Simpson) of Surfside Beach, SC; son, Rodney Sherrill (Dania Trull Craft) of Kannapolis, NC; grandsons, Brad Hunsucker (Jen Chan), Dustin Hunsucker and wife Ali, Kameron Sherrill and wife Miceala; granddaughters, Dakota Sherrill, and Nikki Furman.  Great grandchildren, Rennie Rose Hunsucker, Dax and Maverick Sherrill.  His brother Wesley Sherrill and wife Kathy, sister Bobbie Swaim and husband Mickey.  His late wife’s children, Jina Motts and husband Richard, Marc Yelton and wife Jennifer, son Austin.  Along with many nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 1:00pm in Surfside Beach, SC.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Hospice or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach is serving the family.
