James H. Foster, born in Burlington, NC, son of Evelyn Godfrey Foster and T.H. Foster, passed away November 10, 2021 after a short illness. He was a veteran of the US Army, Korean Conflict. He graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Education, UNCG, with a Masters degree in School Administration, USC with an Educational Specialist degree.
He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach and enjoyed being involved in many church activities.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia McDaniel Foster, daughter, Holly Foster Kennedy (Jamie), sons, Joel P. Foster, James (Mickey) Foster (Elizabeth), and four grandchildren, Nate, Brett, Sydney, and Brooks.
He was a teacher, athletic coach, and school administrator for 45 years. Teacher and Assistant Principal while coaching boys and girls basketball as well as boys baseball at Southern Alamance High School. After nine years he became Principal of Sylvan Elementary School, Bennettsville, SC Middle School, Myrtle Beach High School, Brookland Cayce High School in Cayce, West Columbia, SC, Swain County High in Bryson City, NC, and Southern Guilford High School, Greensboro, NC.
While working in Horry County, he served as Director of Secondary Education, and Assistant Superintendent for Operations. He was employed by the SC State Department for one year.
He enjoyed teaching, coaching and principalships because of his love for his students, players, and teachers and hoped he put them on a better path for life.
He was proud of his three children and enjoyed watching them develop into mature productive people, two teachers and a banker. He loved coaching his sons and grandsons in Little League Baseball and watching his daughter dance as she grew up.
He loved watching his granddaughter dance and sing while performing in her High School Show Choir.
A good life.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 15, 2021 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM 10:45 AM. Burial will follow at Southern Palms Memorial Gardens in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
