James Cranford Obituary

James Blease Cranford, 71, of Myrtle Beach passed away on April 5, 2022, after a short illness.

Jim was born in Hartsville of South Carolina on October 22, 1950, to Blease and Olivia Cranford.  After graduating from Bethune High School, Jim attended Western Carolina University where he was a member of the football team until an injury ended his playing career.  Jim was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Jim graduated from WCU in 1972 and shortly thereafter married “his best friend” Sue Black Cranford of Midland, North Carolina.

Jim and Sue moved to Myrtle Beach in 1977 and he founded Quadrant, Inc. in 1980.  Quadrant focused on the management of Homeowner and Community Associations in North and South Carolina until Jim retired in 1998.

After retirement, Jim spent some time volunteering as a coach with the Myrtle Beach Seahawk football team as an offensive line coach.  In his time as a coach, he was most proud of the achievements of his players off the field as they grew to become loving husbands, fathers, and men.

Jim was predeceased by his parents Blease and Olivia and son Chad.  He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sue, his son Shaun, daughter in law Allison, grandchildren Will and Hayes and sister Marian her husband Jeff and their sons Austin and Wesley.

Funeral Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Myrtle Beach 3810 Robert Grissom Parkway, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577 on Friday, April 8, 2022, at 11:00 am, socks optional.  The family will receive friends from 9:45-10:45am prior to the service in church parlor. Burial will follow at Southern Palms Memorial Gardens in North Myrtle Beach.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Chadwick Kyle Cranford Scholarship Fund, 891 Villarosa Drive, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572.
