Jacquline MacDonald Hendrix, 75, of Myrtle Beach, SC, died on Thursday September 7, 2023 surrounded by family. Jackie was born in Bennettsville, SC and grew up in nearby Carolina Community. Jackie met her husband Ronny when she was in dental hygiene school and they built a life and family together over nearly fifty years.
The story of Jackie’s life is a story of people and how she showed her love. She delighted in her family and loved telling wild and wonderful stories about the extended MacDonald clan. Jackie never failed to show her love and pride for everyone in her family, from her siblings and cousins to her daughter and grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Jackie’s career as a dental hygienist was another opportunity for her to offer care and her favorite part of her job was getting to know her patients and their lives as she worked in a variety of dental offices on the Grand Strand.
Beyond work, Jackie was passionate about engaging with her community, particularly through her beautiful church family at First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach. She served multiple terms as an elder at the church, leading the Abundant Life committee, and she organized Heritage Sunday with her sister Sandra, as well as offering a period of service as a Stephen Minister. In recent years, Jackie also volunteered with the youth literacy program Freedom Readers and spoke frequently of the joy she found in supporting the young scholars.
Jackie described herself as a people-person and will be remembered for the attention and care she offered everyone in her life. She made connections everywhere she went, including New York City subways and airplane rides to Scotland. Jackie adored her friends and treated them like family, ready to offer a laugh or to hold hands and cry together. She loved fiercely and was a bright spot in the world for so many.
Jackie was preceded in death by her father Alexander McRae MacDonald, her mother Nannie Martha MacDonald, and her brother Alexander McRae MacDonald, Jr. She is survived by her husband Ronny Hendrix, daughter Leigh (Penelope) Hendrix and grandchildren Harlan and Jonas Vick, her sister Sandra (Terry) Adams, brother Richard (Janet) MacDonald, and her nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 12th, at First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach at 3810 Robert Grissom Parkway.
Memorial gifts may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach, P.O. Box 70127, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572-0127.
