Jacqueline Ferguson Welker, 95, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, at Reflections Assisted Living Community.
Jackie, as she was known by family and friends, was born November 27, 1930, in Greensboro, North Carolina, to Bertram Lindsey Ferguson and Ellen McCaskill Ferguson.
A longtime resident of Myrtle Beach, SC, she is survived by her children, Donna Welker McKinney of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Eric Lee Welker (Mary) of Summerfield, NC; grandchildren, Matthew Ian McKinney (Frankie) and Megan Elaine McKinney; and son-in-law, Dr. Bill Willis.
She was preceded in death by her children, Elaine Welker Willis and David Wendell Welker; grandson Eric Lee Welker, Jr., brother Dr. Billy Ferguson; and former husband Herman Wendell Welker, III.
After raising her family in Greensboro, NC, Jackie moved to Myrtle Beach, where she launched her own company- Carol Bay, Inc., becoming one of the first female real estate developers in Myrtle Beach. She was a member of Leadership Grand Strand and the Grand Strand Optimist Club. She served as a licensed Guardian ad Litem and as Chair of the Eastern SC branch of the American Red Cross. Jackie loved a good Bridge game and was an award-winning player.
Jackie passionately adored her children and grandchildren. She was a truth-teller with a fabulous sense of humor who cherished people. Known as "The Mayor" of Relections, Jackie was the quintessential lady - gracious, joyful, and genuine. She exuded a regal bearing, whether serving a crowd of hungry teenagers or encouraging her Reflections friends with laughter, advice, and bananas as she traversed the halls in her electric wheelchair.
Jackie's family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation to her Reflections Family and to two very special friends - James Siegrist and Sally Howard. Jackie delighted in beautiful, bright colors and flowers. However, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Reflections Assisted Living in Carolina Forest.
