Jacqueline F. "Jackie" Freeman, of Myrtle Beach and formerly of Pittsford, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Jackie was born on January 10, 1951, in Proctor, the daughter of John H. Barnard Jr. and Lita (Fillioe) Barnard. She attended Lothrop Elementary School and was a graduate of Otter Valley Union High School, Class of 1969. She continued her education at the Putnam Memorial School of Practical Nursing in Bennington, beginning what would become a lifelong dedication to caring for others.
Jackie was employed for many years as a licensed practical nurse in the Rutland area before retiring from the physicians' office of Cross, Pratt, and Weaver. She was a dedicated and compassionate nurse who took great pride in caring for others, helping patients heal, and feel truly cared for. Her kindness, strength, and generous spirit made a lasting impact on the lives of her patients and colleagues alike. After retiring and relocating to South Carolina, she demonstrated that her commitment to helping others never wavered, volunteering at Associated Charities in Myrtle Beach, where she also served as president for a time, reflecting her natural leadership and desire to serve her community.
She was a longtime member of the Pittsford United Methodist Church and later attended Carolina Forest Community Church in Myrtle Beach, maintaining her faith throughout her life's journey.
On September 26, 1970, she married David Freeman, beginning an enduring love story that would span 55 years. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and devotion—a partnership that spoke to the power of lasting commitment. She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, David Freeman of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (formerly of Pittsford, Vermont); her daughter, Kimberlee Rider and her husband, Keith, of Myrtle Beach; her grandchildren, Katelyn Rider and Kyle Rider; and her brother, David Barnard and his wife, Tracey, also of Myrtle Beach.
Jackie was a loving and devoted wife, a caring and supportive mother, and a proud and adoring grandmother who clearly meant everything to her family. She touched lives both professionally and personally through her warmth, compassion, and the deep love she shared with everyone she encountered. Her legacy of service, love, and compassion will be remembered and cherished by the many lives she touched.
Burial will take place at a later date in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery in Pittsford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause that was close to her heart.
