Obituary

Jack Edmond Newman 77, of Myrtle Beach SC transitioned to his eternal home to be with Jesus on June 26, 2026. A brief courageous battle concluded Jack’s legacy here on earth, which was defined by his love for family, and deeply-rooted in his love for Christ.

Jack was the son of Elizabeth George Newman of Hurt, VA and Ernest Clayton Newman of Hillsville, VA. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his son Bradley Allen Newman of Conway SC, his brother Danny Ray Newman of Lynch Station, VA; four brothers-in-love Wylie, Dewey, Aubrey, and James Byrd.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Barbara of the home and sister Jean Newman Clark (Alvah) of Dauphin Island, AL; granddaughters Kelsea Newman (Trae) of Keeling,VA and Triniti Newman of Conway, SC; great-grandson, Trae Alexander Walker Jr. of Keeling VA; special goddaughter Melinda Saunders of Altavista, VA; family sisters Diane White of Madison Heights, VA and Rhonda Keesee of Lynch Station; lifelong friend, Sandra Dooley of Altavista, VA; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Jack retired from a machinist career with Babcock & Wilcox (Lynchburg, VA) after 30 years of service, but his servant’s heart and sense of adventure led him to continue working for many years as a Professional Charter Bus Driver.  Jack was a devoted family man and viewed as a pillar in both his home and church communities. Jack loved traveling and experiencing new opportunities, and always sought to see the best in others.
