Irene Mason (Mason) Giorno

Irene Mason Giorno, age 90, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina passed away on April 29, 2023. Irene was born on March 1, 1933, in Cullman, Alabama, to Maggie and Ollie Huffman. She graduated from Cullman High School and went on to have a successful career as a physician's assistant for nearly 30 years at Internal Medicine of Myrtle Beach under Dr. Gene Buttler.

Irene was a caring and family-oriented person with a gentle soul. She was a giver who loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook, gardener, and seamstress, even making her own wedding dress. Irene was an active member of Ocean View Baptist Church and found comfort in her faith.

Irene is survived by her son, Tom Mason III (Lori), and two daughters, Evelyn Lester (Richard), and Gayle Canaday (Charles); seven grandchildren, Katherine Edge (Cam), Rett Bryant, Charles Canaday III, Allen Canaday (Sarah Grace), Lilli Canaday, Scarlette Shirley (Jarrod), and Savannah Mason; and five great-grandchildren, Carter Edge, Palmer Edge, Eleanor Shirley, Witt Shirley, and Collins Canaday. She also has four nieces and three nephews. Irene was preceded in death by her parents and her three older brothers, Basil, Vertice, and Cluie, one niece and two nephews. Her husband of 50 years, Tommy Allen Mason Jr. as well as her late in life husband, Toni Giorno.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 1 at 10 am, followed by a funeral service at McMillan-Small Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Amedisys Hospice.
