Henry Edward Bushong

H. Edward Bushong, 93, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at NHC HealthCare in Garden City, SC.

Mr. Bushong was born December 21, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He served in the Marine Corps to start his military
service, and retired from the Air Force in 1968. He then worked for and retired from General Telephone. He is a Past Master and was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, Seaside
Lodge 419 and 353. He was a Shriner and a Shriner Omar Clown who brought joy to many of the kids that were in the Shriners Hospital. He also made appearances at events and parades to
raise funds and awareness for the work that the Shriners do for the kids. He was also a Road Runner for the Shriners taking children to the Greenville and Cincinnati Shriner hospitals for
over 30 years. He was the patriarch of his family, and he treated everyone like family, never having met a stranger. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather,
great-great-grandfather and friend.

In addition to his parents, his wife of 61 years, Ruth Bushong, his sister, Nellie Carnell, and brother, Frank Bushong, preceded him in death.

Surviving him is his son Henry Edward Bushong, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, of North Fork, California; his daughters, Ann Marie Johnson and her husband, Donald, of Universal City, TX,
Phyllis Ruth Hucks and her husband, Sam, of Socastee, and Vicky Lynn Bushong of Socastee; his nine grandchildren; his twenty-one great-grandchildren; his two great-great-grandchildren;
and his brother, Gordon Bushong of Gladwin, MI.

A celebration of his life will be held at McMillan-Small Funeral Home on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 3:00 PM, with Pastor Kirk Lawton officiating.
