Hagood Lee Curry

Hagood Lee Curry was born on June 11, 1937, to Hagood and Laurabell (Lee) Curry. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Lee lived a life marked by faith, hard work, loyalty, and an unwavering love for his family.

Lee is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Martha Smith Curry. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and devotion, and together they built a lifetime of treasured memories. One of their greatest joys was traveling, and throughout their many years together, Lee and Martha traveled the world, sharing adventures and experiences that remained special to them throughout their lives.

Lee proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1959. His years in the Navy held a special place in his heart, and he often spoke fondly of his service and the lifelong friendships he formed during that time.

Following his military service, Lee graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1960. He went on to enjoy a long and successful career as a Certified Public Accountant in Charlotte, North Carolina, serving his clients and community for more than 50 years. His career reflected the strong work ethic, integrity, and dedication that characterized every part of his life.

His faith was central to who he was. Lee loved the Lord and faithfully served as a deacon at Mulberry Baptist Church in Charlotte for many years. He demonstrated his faith not only through his service to the church, but also through the way he lived—caring deeply for his family, honoring his friendships, and remaining steadfast in his devotion to those he loved.

Lee will also be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. He had a way of bringing happiness and laughter to those around him, and his humor, warmth, and personality made time spent with him memorable. He worked hard, loved deeply, and valued the relationships he built throughout his life. His loyalty and devotion to his family and friends never wavered.

In addition to his wife, Martha, Lee is survived by his daughter, Cathy Curry of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; his son, John Curry and wife, Molly, of Southport, North Carolina; his granddaughter, Catrina Lee Davis of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; his brother, Charles E. Curry and wife, Jenny, of Dillon, South Carolina; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Lee leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion, laughter, and love. Those who knew him will remember a man who valued his family above all else, cherished his friendships, took pride in his service to his country and his profession, and found great joy in a life shared with Martha. His presence will be deeply missed, but the stories, laughter, lessons, and memories he leaves behind will remain with those who loved him.
