Obituary
Our dear Mother, Gladys “Joan” Taylor sadly passed away on her birthday, May 24th 2023 peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. She was 93.
Joan was born in London, England on May 24th, 1930. She married her husband in 1956. As an Air Force wife she lived in many places before settling in Myrtle Beach, SC in 1972 for the remainder of her life.
Joan was a wonderful Mother, always there for her three daughters. She was well loved by her family and friends, many who predeceased her.
She is predeceased by her husband, Dennis Roma Taylor, her mother, Rose Bodell Hawkins, her father, Alfred James Hawkins, and two son-in laws, Donnie Macklen and Gary Bass.
Joan is survived by her three daughters, Denise Bass (Edward Carlson), Susan Macklen and Christine Levy (David Levy). Her neice, Barbara Page of London, England. Her grandchildren, Jennifer Macklen Skipper (Windle Lafayette Skipper, Jr.), Jessica Macklen (Justin Todd), Kevin Bass, Daila Levy and Sarah Levy. She had two great grandchildren, Windle Lafayette Skipper III and Donnie Macklen Skipper.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
