Gerald "Jerry" Patrick Gilroy, 83, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on August 23, 2023 at home surrounded by his wife and daughters. Born on March 10, 1940, in Scranton, PA, and raised in Archbald, PA, he was very proud of his Irish heritage. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jerry is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Cynthia (Shedlauskas) Gilroy; his daughters, Marie Hyman (Doug) of Conway, SC, and Eileen Hutchinson (Chuck) of Surfside Beach, SC; his grandsons, Daniel R. Costantini of Hyde Park, NY, Chapman P., Grant G., and Gavin X. Hutchinson of Surfside Beach, SC; his great-granddaughter, Gianna M. Costantini of Hyde Park, NY; his brothers, William Gilroy (Ginna) of Archbald, PA, and Hubert Gilroy (Mary) of Carlisle, PA; his sister-in-law, Janie Gilroy of Archbald, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald D. and Marion L. Gilroy; his brothers, Michael, Peter, and Jim; and his sister, Marion Gilroy.
Jerry proudly served in the United States Army. After his military service, he had a successful career with IBM, working as a financial planner in East Fishkill, NY, until his retirement.
Jerry was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Myrtle Beach, SC, where he found solace and comfort. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing, and cherished the summers spent at the family cottage at Newton Lake, PA.
A visitation for Jerry will be held at McMillian-Small Funeral Home, located at 910 67th Ave. N, Myrtle Beach, on Sunday from 4:00-6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Celebration will take place on Monday, August 28th, at 11:00 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church in Murrells Inlet, SC. Following the mass, the family will receive family and friends at Indigo Creek Golf Club. Interment will be held at a later date.
