Georgina Nance Obituary

Georgina Nance, born Georgina Alice Landers on July 25th , 1953, to Ralph and Virginia Landers in Peoria, Illinois, where she graduated from Peoria Central High School, Class of 1971. In 1972, she moved to Myrtle Beach, SC to marry the love of her life, the late Ronald Wayne Nance, to whom she was married for 47 years until his passing in 2020.

They made their home in Surfside Beach, SC where they raised their children, Jennifer Nance Spillane and the late Ronald Jeremy Nance.  Georgina, known lovingly as Sis or Sissy to her siblings and Illinois family and friends, was a social butterfly and loved by everyone who knew her. She knew no strangers and befriended everyone.  She began her life in Myrtle Beach working at Chapin Company.  She had a few jobs in between including many years working for her friend Linda Russ, CPA, where she met many people in the restaurant industry.  She finished her last several years of working as administrative assistant/bookkeeper for David Owens at Dockside and Creek Ratz restaurants in Murrells Inlet, where she made many more friends.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Jennifer, and son-in-law, Joel Spillane, of Murrells Inlet, SC and her granddaughter, Ashlyn Herring and great-grandson, Ronald Wyatt Herring, of Myrtle Beach, SC; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Nance, of Enterprise, AL, granddaughters Avery, Chloe, and Kinley Nance and grandson Tayven Cason, all of AL; her sister, Cindi Gibbs (Richard) of Chillicothe, IL, brothers Ralph David (Sandi), Ricki Lee (Debbie), Bill Landers of Peoria, IL and Chuck (Lynn) Landers of Gresham, SC; sisters-in-law, Cathy Nance of Goose Creek, SC and Susan Nance of Greensboro, NC.  She will also be missed by her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins as well as special lifelong friends, Gail and Alan Vereen of Surfside Beach, Mike and Diane Johnson of Murrells Inlet, SC and her best friend since they were 4 years old, Sue Hoppe Bauder of Rock Hill, SC.

She is predeceased by her husband, Ron, and son, Jeremy, as well as her parents, and an aunt and uncle, Jake and Alice Duden, who were like grandparents to her; and her mother-in-law, Mary Jane Moore, with whom she had a close relationship, and many other loved ones.

Georgina spent her last couple of years fighting Lewy Body Dementia in the great care of The Palmettos Assisted Living and Memory Care in Garden City with a great care team from Crescent Hospice, all of whom treated her like family and her family is greatly appreciative to them all.

The family will receive friends at McMillan-Small Funeral Home on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 12:30-2:00 PM. Memorial service will be held at 2pm at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach, SC with Rev. Kirby Winstead presiding.
