Georgia Ann Henry Brake died peacefully at home in Myrtle Beach, SC, on Sunday September 14, 2025.
Georgia Ann is survived by daughters Bonnie Leigh(Teddy) Gilbreth of Charleston, SC and Catherine(Chris) Lee of Myrtle Beach, four grandchildren, Andrew (Emily) Lee, William (Bridget) Lee, Catherine Gilbreth and Edward Gilbreth, and three great grand children, Henry Lee, Matthew Lee and Kyles Lee.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 5/6 years, Vernon Pleasants Brake, her parents William Charles Henry and Catherine Bethania Phelps of Latta, SC, and a sister, Kay H. Garren, of Conway, SC.
Georgia Ann was born on December 25, 1937 in Latta, SC, and graduated from Latta High School in 1956. She attended the University of South Carolina. She married in 1959 and moved to Myrtle Beach in 1961.
Georgia Ann was passionate about her family and having family gatherings were among her happiest moments. Though diabetic complications would take a huge toll on her life, she remained defiant and faced her problems with unerring courage and determination until the end. Her legacy will be to love fiercely and carry on.
There will be a visitation at the home of Catherine and Chris Lee at 317 Wildwood Dunes Trail Thursday 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. The graveside service will be held at the Rowland Cemetery Friday at 11 a.m. in Rowland, N.C.
