George W Caputo, 91, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of North Bellmore, NY, passed away peacefully at home on January 9, 2023. Born in Jamaica Queens NY April 1, 1931, the son of the late Louis Caputo, Sr and Mary Kern Caputo.
He is survived by his loving wife Carla Caputo and his children Raymond (Janet) Alexandria VA, and Mary Louise Mroz. (W Bryan) Myrtle Beach SC. He also leaves behind his grandchildren William Robert Mroz, Cooper Caputo and Breana Mroz, He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Robert and many siblings and friends.
George was an avid horse lover and worked for New York Racing Association for 30+ years at Aqueduct, Belmont and Saratoga racetrack. At 16 he exercised horses and eventually worked as a white cap. During his career he met and friended many horse owners and trainers as well as celebrities, sports owners and players, famous singers, actors, presidents and more. Growing up in a large family, George was always surrounded by family spending holidays with extended family, traveling on vacations to visit brothers and making sure his children spent time with cousins near and far.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Friday, January 13, 2023 at the McMillan-Small Funeral Home located at 910-67th Ave. N. in Myrtle Beach, SC. He will be laid to rest at St John Cemetery in Queens NY at a later date.
