Gary Edward Wilkerson

Gary Edward Wilkerson, age 50, who resided in Myrtle Beach SC, passed away under the care of hospice in Little River, SC on 7/26/26 at 11:19pm.

He fought a courageous battle against cancer and passed away with his devoted wife Amy by his side.

Gary was born 1/16/1976 in Maryland to mother Frances A. Bruce and father Walter Mark Wilkerson.

Gary lived a large part of his life in his home state of Maryland. He moved to Tennessee to be with his childhood friend Amy who became his wife and they settled in what was supposed to be their forever home in South Carolina in 2019.

Gary's profession was a truck driver and he spent a great deal of his life seeing the USA while he worked in a career he loved.

Gary is survived by his wife / best friend and soulmate Amy C. Spears Wilkerson, their furbabies Sofia, Cupid and Keke and mother in law. He is also survived by his mother Frances Bruce Atchison , sisters Janice Atchison Glascoe and Sarah Wilkerson Tate, brothers David Atchison, Mark Wilkerson and Walter Wilkerson.  

Gary has many nephews and nieces that he leaves behind and hopes they will think of their uncle Gary and smile because he loved them all dearly.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents, father in law and his furbaby Mia.

The family wishes to thank all of the Doctors, Nurses, palliative care and hospice that treated Gary with the utmost respect and dignity to the very end.

Gary lived his life to the fullest and like one of his favorite singers, Frank Sinatra, Gary lived by the statement, "I did it my way".

There will be a memorial / celebration of life at McMillian - Small Funeral Home and Crematory located at  910 67th Ave North. in Myrtle Beach SC 29572 on Saturday August 15 2026 at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Local Hospice in your area or any Animal Shelter / Rescue in Gary's name and honor.
