Fred Rotello

With deep love and profound sadness, the Rotello family announces the passing of Fred Rotello, a devoted husband, son, uncle, craftsman, and friend to many. His life was defined by commitment to his craft and an unwavering love for family and community.

Fred was born on January 5, 1959, in Miami, Florida, and was raised in the Bethesda, Maryland area. He later settled in Middletown Valley on a 50-acre horse farm, where he attended Frederick Community College while working his way through school doing masonry work. This marked the beginning of a lifelong career in masonry, a trade he mastered with skill and pride. In1984, Fred moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where his mother and stepfather had settled.

In 1992, Fred volunteered as a mason for the Children in Harmony, World Wall for Peace project at Chapin Park. It was there that he met Marta, who was also involved in the project. What began as a shared labor of love grew into a lifelong partnership. After nearly ten years of work, the project was completed, standing as a testament to the dedication and vision of those who brought it to life. In 2008, Fred celebrated his first and only marriage to Marta, in an intimate ceremony held in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. Throughout his life, Fred considered his marriage and his career to be his two greatest accomplishments.

Fred continued his education at Horry-Georgetown Technical College and transitioned from residential masonry to commercial construction. Over the years, he became an integral part of the growth and development of the Myrtle Beach community. His craftsmanship can be seen in many recognizable landmarks, including Broadway at the Beach, Captain George's Seafood Restaurant, St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, numerous buildings at Coastal Carolina University, and many other projects stretching from Wilmington, North Carolina, to Charleston, South Carolina. Through hotels, office buildings, and countless other structures, Fred left a lasting mark on the communities he served.

For more than forty years, Fred built a distinguished business, Frederick Masonry, earning the respect of clients and colleagues alike for his expertise, integrity, and commitment to excellence. A gifted craftsman, he possessed a remarkable ability to envision the potential in every project and bring that vision to life.

Those who knew Fred knew him as a true outdoorsman. He loved fishing, camping, boating, and spending time in nature. After earning his private pilot's license, he especially enjoyed taking family and friends on flights along the coast. He also loved riding his Harley-Davidson and embraced every opportunity for adventure. Fred could fix just about anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand, no matter how big or small the task. His love of music brought joy to family gatherings, where favorites like Aerosmith and Pink Floyd were often playing.

Fred is survived by his beloved wife, Marta Rotello and her family members; his mother, Jean Tresselt; and his aunt and uncle, Mary and Paul Fox of New York; his niece, Angela Schaeffer; his nephew, Chad Pardue; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family members Julie and Randy Madden from Milford, Maine, and dear friends, all of whom brought him immeasurable joy. He was preceded in death by his father, Raimondo Rotello, his brother, Ray Rotello; his sister, Theresa (Terry) Brown; his nephews Tyler Schaeffer and Ryan Schaeffer.

Fred will be remembered for his gentle spirit, steady presence, generous heart, and the passion he poured into every aspect of his life. His memory will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know him.
