Becky Sanders, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished partner, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, at the age of 75.
Becky is survived by her beloved daughter, Sharon Sanders Olson, Sharon’s husband Scott, and her three treasured granddaughters—Samantha Wrenn, Charlotte Bruce, and Claire Gray; her brother William P. Wrenn with whom she shared a lifelong bond; her brother-in-law Wayne Adcock (Mary Ellen); her nephew Curtis Adcock; her nephew Craig Adcock (Jennifer); and her devoted partner, Bill White.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Goodman Sanders; her parents, Julian Clifford and Nancy Watts Wrenn; her brother, Julian Clifford Wrenn, Jr.; her sister, Mary Ellen “Sandy” Adcock and her sister-in-law Mary Lea Wrenn (William). Becky cherished their memories deeply and is now reunited with them in eternal peace.
Becky was born and raised in Greensboro, N.C. She graduated from Wingate College (now University) with an associate degree and carried her passion for learning and growth throughout her life. She also shared this love for learning with hundreds of young children over the course of her career.
Becky attended First Baptist Church in Greensboro, where she first met her husband, Bruce. They shared an enduring love and friendship throughout their 32-year marriage. After Bruce’s sudden death in 2002, Becky relocated to Myrtle Beach, S.C., in 2007 for the remainder of her life.
Her greatest joy was her family. Becky loved spending holidays and weeks-long visits with Sharon and her family. Her three granddaughters, who call her “BB,” brought her endless pleasure.
Becky also found happiness in her church, the beach, and bluegrass music. Becky was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach, where her faith and the church’s mission were central to her life. She was also well known in bluegrass music circles as she continued the legacy of her husband’s love of bluegrass music through her generous support, including loaning Bruce’s banjos to bluegrass enthusiasts and the genre’s elite musicians.
In Myrtle Beach, Becky met Bill who enriched her life with his love and care for the past 16 years.
Becky’s legacy of generosity, warmth and strength will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched. Becky will be deeply missed but forever remembered. Her love and spirit will remain in our hearts always.
A celebration of Becky’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach. Friends and family are invited to honor her memory and share the many beautiful moments she brought into their lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach General Fund, in memory of Becky Sanders, to support the church she so deeply loved.
The family would also like to thank Gentiva Hospice caregivers and staff for their invaluable support over the past three months.
