Frances Barbara Maxwell

Frances Barbara Maxwell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and mentor, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, in Conway, South Carolina, at the age of 75.
Born on July 1, 1950, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Frances was the cherished daughter of the late Ann Rose Torok (née Cadic) and John Gaze Torok. She lived a life marked by compassion, intellect, and dedication to others. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Women's Studies with minors in Labor and Employment Studies, and went on to serve as an Academic Advisor at Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts. In this role, she touched the lives of countless students, guiding them not only through their academic journeys but also helping them grow into confident, successful individuals.
Frances had a deep love for reading—especially mystery novels—and a lifelong affection for cats. Her warmth, wisdom, and gentle humor made her a cherished presence in the lives of all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Harold Ralph Maxwell; her children, David John Maxwell (Kim Tran), Jaime Lynn Kearns (née Maxwell, Brian Robert Kearns), and Matthew Reginald Maxwell; and her adored grandchildren, Olivia and Brooklyn Maxwell.
Frances and Harold shared nearly 53 years of marriage, missing their anniversary by just ten days—a testament to a lifetime of love and partnership.
A private family viewing will be held on September 22, 2025. A celebration of Frances’s life will be announced at a later date.
