Ezra Lawson Obituary

Ezra Emmanuel Lawson, 19, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2022 in Charleston, South Carolina.

He was born March 14, 2003, son of Johnathan and Kimberly Thomas and Lenord Lawson, Jr.

Ezra was a remarkable son, brother, cousin, grandson, teammate, Airman, and friend. He will forever be in our hearts and put a smile on our faces.

Ezra was dedicated to his athletics and played several sports throughout his childhood. He excelled at Basketball, Cross Country, and Track and Field at Socastee High School. He also loved listening to all types of music and enjoyed playing the piano. He was fun-loving and had a contagious personality. Ezra was an intelligent, entertaining, fearless young man who lived his short life to the fullest.  Ezra was passionate about everything he did. He kept a daily journal of his thoughts, prayers, and life goals. He had a strong work ethic, working his first job at McDonalds at age 14, then at Lowes Foods from age 16 to 18.

A week after turning 18, he accomplished a long-standing goal of his when he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Upon high school graduation, he brought honor to his family, friends, and God through his service to his country. He was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He is survived by his parents, Kimberly and Johnathan Thomas and Lenard Lawson, Jr.; his siblings, Elijah, Amariah, Zion, Eden, and Jude; grandparents, Hugh Edwards, Ozella and Donald Campbell, and Emma and Kelvin Thomas; numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles; fellow Airmen; and dear friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday, May 16, 2022 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home.  A Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home.
