Ernest Holt, 91, of Myrtle Beach, went to be with his Lord on July 20, 2025, surrounded by family.
He was born in Johnston County, NC, on May 30, 1934. When he was 17 years old, he moved to Greensboro, NC, where he met the love of his life, Wilma Dye.
They were married on February 14, 1953, and celebrated 72 years together last February. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
At just 17 years old, he began working at a car dealership, washing cars. Soon he became the parts and service manager. This would become his lifelong career, taking him to Myrtle Beach in 1990.
He played a great game of golf, so moving to Myrtle Beach and living on a golf course was a dream come true. He was also a great pilot of our ski boat. He taught his children and their friends how to ski. Summers on the lake were wonderful family vacations.
Ernest was preceded in death by his mother Pauline, step-father Glen, brother Willis and sister Judy. He is survived by his wife Wilma, sons David Ernest and “Doug” James Douglas (Heather), daughter Brenda (Rod), granddaughter Cheyenne (Alex), grandson David Ernest Jr. (Elizabeth) and great-granddaughters, Yaniliz and Dahiana. He was a proud grandfather!! He is also survived by brothers Bill (Linda), Joe (Cindy), Donald, Frank and sister Jean (Ray).
Ernest was a devout Christian, a loving man of God. He regularly attended church until his health prohibited him from going. He was loved dearly by all who knew him. He always had a smile on his face. He will be so very missed.
There will be a celebration of life at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 16th, 2025, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, 910 67th Avenue N., Myrtle Beach 29752. Family will receive friends beginning at 11:30 A.M .
Everyone is invited to have lunch with the family beginning at 2:30pm at the Moose Lodge, 479 Burcale Rd. Myrtle Beach SC 29579.
