Eleanore Marie Burzon, 87, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. Born on December 27, 1935, in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Carl and Marie Kohler. Eleanore married Raymond W. Burzon on October 12, 1957, residing in Dumont, New Jersey until moving to Pearl River, New York. Eleanore was a devoted wife and mother; providing a foundation of loving care and guidance was something that she passed down through the generations of her family.
Eleanore graduated from Leonia High School, attended Rockland Community College, and began a career as a dental assistant in Montvale, New Jersey until retiring to Myrtle Beach in 1991. Eleanore and Raymond were both active parishioners for many years of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Eleanore’s talents were many. She was an extremely accomplished and expert needle pointer, a member of the German American Club (Rockland County, NY), an avid reader, impressive German cook, a member of the Red Hat Society, belonged to a local Myrtle Beach bridge club, a community volunteer, and a friend who loved to entertain. Eleanore is survived by her two sons Dr. Edward C. Burzon and wife Dr. Sandra L. Ackerman (Madbury, NH) and Kenneth W. Burzon and wife Lisa Pelletier-Burzon (Snellville, GA); her grandchildren Janet, Brian, John, Rick, Katie, Kimberly, and Lucas and great-grandchildren Lucy, Layla, Liam, and Logan.
Eleanore was preceded in death by her loving husband Raymond William Burzon of 59 years in 2016 and her sister Evelyn.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Friday, November 24, 2023, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, 910 6th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach, SC. A funeral mass is planned at St. Andrew Catholic Church on December 20, 2023, time 3:00pm. Eleanore and Ray Burzon will be laid to rest together at Arlington National Cemetery.
