Edward R. Simon, Jr.

On August 18, 2026, Edward R. Simon Jr., passed away surrounded by his loving family.   He was 77 years young.   He was born on October 8, 1948, in Manhattan, New York City to the late Edward R. Simon Sr., and Carmela Regina Sacchi.

Ed proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1967-1974.  Following his military service, he built a successful career in defense contracting with Lockheed Martin.

Upon retiring in 2015, Ed and his wife, Linda, made their way South, making their home in Conway, South Carolina, where they quickly established ties, met new friends and enjoyed many wonderful years together.  He was a devoted husband to Linda for more than 52 years, until her passing in March of 2022.   Ed was also a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  A lifelong sports fan, he was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan.

Even during his career, family was always at the center of Ed’s life.  His sons recall how he never let work keep him from being there for his children.   Whether he was attending games and practices, traveling out of town for tournaments, making sure they had the right equipment, or simply showing up whenever they needed him, Ed’s love was reflected in his unwavering presence and support. 

In his retirement years, Ed embraced life in Myrtle Beach. He lived life with an enthusiasm and energy that was contagious.  He enjoyed weekly golf games with his buddies, spending time on the beach, attending live shows, and experiencing the area’s vibrant nightlife.  He especially loved listening to local live bands and dancing the night away.  Ed will be remembered for his love of family and friends, his generosity, strong work ethic, and sense of humor.  His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and in the lives he touched.   He will be deeply missed. 

Left to cherish Ed’s memory are his son’s Stephen Simon of Frederick, Maryland, Corey Simon of Conway, South Carolina, and Scott Simon of Thurmont, Maryland; Daughter in law Michelle Simon of Frederick, Maryland; Grandchildren, Taylor, Tyler, Ashley, Jasmine, and Ivy Simon; Sister’s, Jo Anne Simon, Barbara Lynch, Patty Delorenzo, and brother, Gregory Simon, and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends and neighbors.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be held privately.
