Earl Singleton Obituary

Earl was born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, son of the late Charlie and Elfreda Eldridge Singleton and affectionately called Big Earl, he was the loving husband of Elizabeth (Betty) Gamble Singleton and loving father of Elizabeth and Lawton Benton, Earl Jr. and Julia Singleton, and Charles Gamble Singleton; proud grandfather of Albert III and Casey Singleton, Edward and Sarah Benton, Hannah and Josh Shimmin, Spencer and Lauren Benton, Louise and Michael Condon, Rivers Singleton and Gray Singleton; doting Great-grandfather of Lawton, Annie, and Caroline Benton, Jack and Henry Benton, and Oliver and Charlotte Shimmin.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Charles Richard, John Beverly, William (Bill) Benjamin, Robert (Pete) Eldridge and sister Barbara Ann Singleton Garris.

Earl was a graduate of Myrtle Beach High School and The University of South Carolina School of Pharmacy. In his years as a pharmacist, he served his community as a trusted and compassionate friend. He was known for his caring heart and his infectious sense of humor. He was a faithful member of Myrtle Beach First Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher, Scoutmaster, choir member, fishfryer, usher, or whatever he could do to help. Earl loved his family, old and new friends, and his winning or losing Gamecocks.  The immediate family will celebrate his life in a private memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Columbarium Fund.
