Obituary

Dr. John N. Crombie, 91, beloved husband of Angelia Crombie, died peacefully at home, on March 25, 2026.

Born on February 7, 1935, in New Brighton, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Robert and Helen Crombie. Mr. Crombie was a 1953 graduate of Beaver Falls High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Geneva College in 1957, and later received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1961.

Following his graduation, Dr. Crombie proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he obtained his specialty in endodontics. He dedicated 20 years to military service, retiring in 1981 with the rank of Colonel. After his military career, he established a private dental practice in Columbia, SC where he served his community with care and professionalism until his retirement in 2000.

In his retirement, Dr. Crombie remained active as a member of the Board of Briarcliff Acres, where he took great pride in contributing to maintenance and community upkeep. He also cherished the Fourth of July celebrations and parade in his community, faithfully dressing in his wool suit each year to take part in the tradition. Dr. Crombie had a deep love for travel, with snow skiing and sailing among his favorite thing to do.

He was remarkably skilled with his hands—so much so that he built his own television from scratch, assembling all the electronic components and even crafting the cabinet that housed it.

In addition to his loving wife, Angelia P. Crombie, he is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl (Arnold) Beacham and Barbara Skarbeck; his cherished grandchildren, Trip Beacham, William Beacham, Brooks Skarbeck, Graham Skarbeck, and Lauren Skarbeck; and sister-in-law, Robbie Crombie.

He was preceded by his brother, James R. Crombie.

He will be remembered for his dedication to his country, his profession, and his family, as well as his steady presence and commitment to those around him.
