Donna Marie Simpson

Donnamarie Simpson (née Nangle) entered into rest on April 13, 2026, and no doubt made her presence known the moment she arrived. She lived 77 years with style, brains, grit, and a sparkle that could never be ignored. Donnamarie was generous, hilarious, and gloriously outspoken. She had a quick wit, a sharp tongue when needed, and a way of telling the truth that could leave you laughing, blushing, or both.

She was the kind of woman people didn’t forget. To be loved by Donnamarie was to be truly cherished, and to know her was to know someone who brought color, fire, and laughter wherever she went. She had a huge personality and a full-hearted love for life that showed up in everything she touched.

Donnamarie never believed in living small. She pursued advanced education in medicine, law, and philosophy, proving that her mind was every bit as fierce as her personality. She also had a deeply creative side. She was an accomplished seamstress, a self-published author under the name Bridgett West, and a home chef and caterer whose food, like everything else she did, came with flair, confidence, and plenty of love.

She adored her four Yorkies, Joey, Boo, Isabella, and Wyatt, who held a very special place in her heart and surely knew they were living the good life.

She was welcomed in death by the great love of her life, her husband, Joseph Simpson, along with her parents, Charles and Mary Nangle, and her brother, Brian, who passed in childhood.

She leaves behind many loved ones and treasured friends who will miss her kindness, her strength, her sass, her laugh, and her unstoppable will. Donnamarie did not simply pass through this life quietly. She made an entrance, made an impression, and made sure the people she loved knew it. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her spirit will never be forgotten.

Friends will be welcomed for a Celebration of Life at Vereen Memorial Gardens, Shelter #2, Little River, SC, on May 2, 2026, from 11am-1pm.
