Donald Stephen Blume, Jr.

Steve Blume CHARLOTTE - Steve Blume, 66 went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 13, 2020. Steve is reunited at last with his precious sister, Sherri Lynn and loving mother, Betty. He was born on February 19, 1955, in Charlotte, NC the son of Donald and Betty Blume. Steve is survived by his son Chad, his daughter Kelci and her husband Sean, his wife Alice, his loving sister Darlene, his stepchildren Sheri, Matt and Jakki, four grandchildren, Landon, Trenton, Paige, Luke, and two step grandchildren Jayden and Jackson. He was a member of the First Baptist Church Charlotte.

Steve attended Elon University where he was a star pitcher for the Elon Phoenix Baseball team. In 1974 he started working in the family business, Blume Supply Inc., a specialty construction supply house, located in Charlotte. Steve loved golf, the outdoors, traveling and he was a season ticket holder with the Carolina Panthers, his favorite football team. Most of all Steve loved the beach, so after forty-five years in business, he sold Blume Supply and retired to Myrtle Beach. 

When Steve was 12, his 5 year old sister died of brain cancer and his family got involved with helping other cancer victim families. Thus, the Blume Pediatric and Oncology Clinic at Presbyterian Hospital, now an affiliate of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, has helped thousands of sick children over the past 20 years. The Blume Family Playroom is currently being renovated with a recent donation. In Steve’s words, “My hope and prayer is that through example, others may see and feel the blessings that come from giving to those that are in need. It is biblical that it is more blessed to give than receive.”  

The family will greet friends at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, 910 67th Ave N, Myrtle Beach on Friday, April 16th, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
