Myrtle Beach, SC – Wendy Sweetman passed away peacefully at home on June 9th after a year long battle with ovarian cancer and complications due to this illness.
She was born in Aurora, Co, raised in Longview ,TX, and met the love of her life in Fort Mill, SC. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Paul D. Sweetman.
Wendy served 27 years with Calvin Gilmore’s Production, “The Carolina Opry”, as Production Manager and Video Designer. She was loved by Calvin, Jeff, and the staff where she worked making every performance memorable. Her cast members trusted her to love them, understand the world of creativity, and lead them. With her husband Paul, who serves as lighting designer at “The Carolina Opry" always by her side, they were inseparable.
Wendy, a member of Beach Church for 15 years, helped lead the production and video volunteer team with Paul who was the Production Manager till recently for the last 14 years. She loved her church, the volunteers she served with, and giving her gift to God! This was her joy!
Wendy and her husband loved going to Walt Disney World and Orlando for relaxation, to be inspired, and to be filled with joy. Any day alone with her husband was a perfect day for Wendy as they treasured their time together.
Wendy is survived by her husband Paul; her mother Brenda Chastain-Kube of Warrenton, MO; her younger sister, Kimberly Klause-White of Warrenton, MO; Kimberly’s children, Taylor White and his partner, Haley Robertson with a daughter, Luna and newborn baby boy, Jameson, and Kimberly’s daughter, Sydney Carroll.
Wendy was preceded in death by her father, Richard Klause and youngest sister, Kendra.
We invite you to join us for Wendy’s Celebration of Life Service held Saturday, June 26, at 1:00 PM at “the Carolina Opry”. This will be a time to celebrate her wonderful life, passion, and the people she loved!
Please wear something “purple” to the celebration, as this was one of her favorite colors to wear. Thank you.
