Dell Elmore Little, 94, of Myrtle Beach, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie Little and an infant daughter.
She is survived by her two daughters, Pam Datlof (Mike) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Karen Harwood (Bill) of Salem, SC, her grandchildren Deyman Hambidge, Drew Hambidge (Carin), Ike Datlof (Cindy), Savannah Harwood, William Harwood (Lydia) and two great grandsons Eli and Levi Datlof.
Dell was born July 7, 1930, in Wadesboro, NC, and as a young adult, she moved to Charlotte where she met the love of her life, Charlie Little, on a blind date in 1951. They enjoyed 64 years together as husband and wife. Dell enjoyed golfing, sewing and cooking for family gatherings, aka the famous banana pudding chef and cornbread dressing queen. Her greatest joy in life was being a loving wife to Charlie and raising their two daughters. Dell was an avid golfer with her husband, Charlie and enjoyed the thrill of achieving a ‘hole in one’ on April 2, 2003 on Angels Trace Golf Course at the age of 72. After retiring to Sunset Beach, NC, Dell enjoyed walking to Bird Island, collecting unusual shells and hosting cookouts with neighbors. They named their beach house “Footprints” after the popular Christian poem of the same name. Dell cherished hosting her children and grandchildren for family vacations and precious memories were always made. Dell moved to the Brightwater Retirement Community, Myrtle Beach, SC shortly after Charlie’s passing. She made the best of friends in fitness classes, creative crafts & even zip lining. Her faith was always the center of her life serving the Lord through Grief Share Ministry, Good News Club at Ocean Bay Elementary and her ever present
attitude of joy. Those who knew her well will remember her twinkling eyes and infectious laugh forever. The family is forever grateful to the Heartland Hospice team members and the exceptional staff at Brightwater Retirement Community who lovingly cared for our precious Mom. Her life will be remembered at a reception of friends at Brightwater Retirement Community at 3:00 on Friday, May 9, 2025. A service of faith will be held at Seaside United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 1:00, followed by a “Footprints” family celebration on the beach.
Memorial gifts may be sent to Seaside Methodist Church, Sunset Beach, NC.
