Debra "Debbie" Kay Caviness Peters, age 68, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025. She was a much beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend. Debbie will be deeply missed by her many close friends and relatives.
She was born on June 17, 1957, to Kathy and John Reid Caviness. In addition to her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her grandparents and many cherished loved ones who meant so much to her.
Debbie is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 37 years, Jeff Peters. Jeff’s unwavering support through life’s many challenges truly exemplified the meaning of "in sickness and in health." He was always there for Debbie—her caregiver, companion, and perfect match.
She is also survived by her sisters, Rhonda (George) and Cindy, her brother, Durand (Mary), her niece, Katie (Britt), and her nephews, Connor and Shon. Her cousins and favorite uncle, Tom Davis, also held a special place in her heart. We will all miss her more than words can express.
Debbie had a joyful, outgoing personality that made it easy for her to form deep connections. One of her dear friends, JoAnne, called her every night to catch up and talk about the future—something Debbie truly cherished.
She was a gifted athlete who grew up riding horses, competing in rodeos, surfing, playing tennis, and running in triathlons. She won many trophies, but more importantly, she brought joy and inspiration to those around her. Those active days may be behind us, but the memories will live on.
Debbie, rest in peace. You will be forever remembered, forever loved, and forever missed.
A Celebration of Life will be 6:00 PM, Friday, July 11, 2025 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, 910 67th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach, SC 29591.
