Debra Key Basinger, 68, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
Deb was born on October 16, 1956, in Mt. Airy, NC. She was Owner and Operator of Deb’s Hairport in Mt. Airy, NC and was a licensed pilot.
Deb and her husband, Lee met in the Lake Norman Area where they enjoyed boating, water skiing and the lake life in general. Their relationship took them from Lake Norman to the Myrtle Beach area due to their love of the beach. In Myrtle Beach she was a licensed Zumba instructor as a volunteer at the UMCA of Coastal Carolina. They enjoyed all of the lifestyle amenities of Myrtle Beach and could be found shag dancing at parties. Deb never met a stranger and brought lots of joy and happiness to whatever room she resided in, sharing her love of fashion with those around her.
The two eventually moved to Margate Towers where they made many local friends who enjoyed her posting sunrise views from their condo to her Facebook account. Both Lee and Deb enjoyed the company of all their many friends in the Towers and throughout Myrtle Beach.
They were members of the Dunes Club and First Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach. Deb had a love of animals, including her beloved Louis.
She is survived by her husband, S. Lee Basinger; step-kids, Randall Lee Basinger and Eugenia McPeek Hinz of Cary, NC, Stacy Basinger Goodman of Mahopac, NY and Bonnie Lee Basinger of Charlotte, NC; step grandkids, Gabrielle Miranda Basinger, Ethan Michael Basinger, Grace Liberty Goodman, Sydney Lee Basinger, Jesse Justice Goodman, Savannah Hope Basinger, and Chloe Belle Goodman.
In lieu of flowers she would wish for donations to be made in her honor to the Grand Strand Humane Society @ https://www.grandstrandhumanesociety.com
