David Mitchell (Mitch) Rose, 63, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
Born July 7, 1959, in Wilson, NC, to the late Jack and Joyce Rose. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Loretta B. Rose, and two children, Matt Rose and Justin Louthen (Emily).
Mitch attended Myrtle Beach High School, later attending the University of South Carolina at Columbia where he received a degree in Business Administration. Following graduation, Mitch served over 20 years in the United States Army as an Apache helicopter pilot, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. During his time in the service, Mitch completed tours in Kuwait and Afghanistan, most notably serving in Operation Enduring Freedom. He retired in 2010, having received numerous medals and honors, including the Air Medal for his actions in Afghanistan and work with the United States Navy Seals and Special Operations Groups.
Mitch will be remembered for his affectionate love of God, country, the outdoors, and sports. His friends and family will remember him for his sense of humor, competitive nature, and selflessness. Mitch never sought recognition for his willingness to serve and help others, whether it be overseas or within the local community.
In addition to the family members mentioned above, he is survived by his older sister Audrey Ware (Emory) and their three daughters, Megan, Carmen and Brennan; older brother, Gary Rose and his two sons, Alex and Evan. Other survivors include his mother-in-law, Mary Frances Bowen; brothers-in-law, Larry, Greg, Jimmy, and Chris; and sister-in-law, Penny.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at McMillan-Small Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach, SC. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Southern Palms Memorial Gardens, North Myrtle Beach, SC.
