Dale Michael Brisson, 70, passed away on September 23rd, 2021. Dale was born on March 26th, 1951, in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Frank & Helen Brisson.
Raised in Miami, Florida, Dale stood out in school for his brilliant mind and mastery of words. As a senior in high school, he earned the title of Florida State Champion Debater (undefeated).
After graduating from broadcasting school in Chicago, Dale returned to Miami and began his favorite job as a narrator for Miami Sequarium’s dolphin and killer whale performances. While there, he learned the importance of ad-libbing as “animals don’t always follow the script!”, a trademark skill attributing to his diverse career as a radio personality (Stoney Brook), writer, airshow emcee, voiceover artist, and regional TV show host. Dale’s talents as a writer of short stories, poems and articles earned him over a dozen writing awards throughout his career.
In 1974 Dale relocated to Salisbury where he lived for thirty years, founded Wordsworth Writing Service, married his first wife, and raised three healthy children. In his free time Dale enjoyed playing drums and guitar, fishing, astronomy, creative writing, and fellowship with his brothers in Hemophilia.
Dale used wit and humor to brighten the day of those around him. His ability to imitate cartoon voiceovers amused generations of children throughout his life. While Dale’s talents touched many across the Southeast, he should be remembered most as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother. Dale’s biggest passion was his family.
Dale is survived by his wife Kathy, son Michael (Nicole), son Spencer (Xenia), daughter Michelle, Grandson Holden, four brothers Bill (Nancy), Don (Priscilla), Mark (Maria), Paul and his loyal companions Jackson and Sabrina.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, October 9th at the McMillan-Small funeral home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The service will be held at 11 a.m., and the family will begin receiving guests at 10 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Hemophilia of North Carolina: https://www.hemophilia-nc.org/donate.php
