Daisy Kamel Saleh, 83, of Myrtle Beach, SC, died peacefully Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at her son’s residence in Concord, NC following a battle with cancer.
Daisy was born in Mansoura, Egypt to Kamel Hanna and Moufida Mikhail. She was the second of five children. After graduating from Mansoura Secondary School for Girls, where her father served as Headmaster, Daisy went on to study at Ain Shams University in Cairo graduating with distinction in 1958 with a BA in Sociology. It was during this time that she met and married William Takla and had her first child, Medhat. In the spring of 1960 William tragically passed away and Daisy went on to marry Fikri Saleh in November 1961. The family lived in Cairo and welcomed daughter Mona in November 1962 and son Mamdooh in September 1966. Three years later they immigrated to the US, settling in Raleigh, NC where Fikri worked as an engineer and Daisy enjoyed working at the NC State University library. In the early 1980’s they relocated to Myrtle Beach, SC where she began her lengthy career with Century-21 Broadhurst selling residential real estate. She was also very involved with her church family at St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church, having been one of a group of members who strived for many years to bring a church to Myrtle Beach.
Daisy enjoyed gardening, walking by the beach, traveling, cooking, visiting with friends and attending church but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her large family. She could always be found in the kitchen, cooking, talking and laughing joyously surrounded by loved ones. That contagious laughter will be missed by all who knew her. Although our hearts are saddened by our loss of Daisy, they are filled with joy with the memories of her and the knowledge that she is resting in her Heavenly Home.
Daisy leaves behind her son Medhat W. Takla and wife Lynn of Concord, NC; daughter Mona Saleh Boykin and husband Randy of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren Andrew, Jack and Julia Takla, Robert, Andrew and Matthew Boykin; siblings: Violet Awadalla, and her husband Nessim, predeceased, Pancy Awadalla, and her husband Ramses, predeceased, Amir Hanna and his wife Wedad, and Samir Hanna; nieces and nephews: Amani Nessim, Magda Fahmy; Sameh, Mark and Andrew Hanna; Mariam Gandour, Joy Demetrious, Mark Awadalla, Joseph Awadalla; Carol Awad, Christine Hanna and Jackie Hanna as well as many cherished friends and colleagues.
