Obituary

Cheryl Anne Todd, 77, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, on November 9, 1947, and raised in Winston-Salem, Cheryl lived a life full of color, laughter, and creativity. She was the daughter of the late Dwight and Betsy Gordon and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Gary Todd; her son, Kevin David Todd; and her brothers, Robert and Michael Gordon.

Cheryl, affectionately known as “Sugar,” is survived by her son, Tate Todd, and her adored grandchildren, Jones and Stella Todd, who were the light of her life.

She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews, her best friend, Wanda Wright Siler, as well as her cherished “bonus family,” Natali Jackson and Bella Noble.

A graduate of East Carolina University with a B.S. in Art and a master’s degree from the University of South Carolina, Cheryl dedicated more than 30 years to teaching Art at Myrtle Beach High School. She inspired generations of students to find their voice through creativity and color, leaving a lasting mark not only on their artwork but on their hearts.

Sugar had an extraordinary gift for making every day feel special. She loved celebrating holidays and was known for throwing unforgettable parties for all the children in her life—full of laughter, decorations, and her signature warmth. She found pure joy in sunshine, the beach, and loved dancing the Carolina shag with David and friends. Her spirit was as bright as the coastal sunsets she adored.

Cheryl will be remembered for her generous heart and the way she made everyone feel like family. Her legacy lives on in the art she inspired, the lives she touched, and the love she shared so freely.
