Charles "Chuck" Oshinski died on January 2nd after a battle with COVID. He was 83 years old. He grew up in Plymouth, Pa. As an outstanding student, he earned a scholarship to Lafayette College, becoming the first member of our family to attend college. He graduated in 1958 with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He married his childhood sweetheart, Dorothy King, and began raising a family and pursuing his career.
Chuck served in the U.S. Army and went to work for Bethlehem Steel. He spent his entire 35 year career with them, eventually rising to the position of VP of Technology. As avid golfers, he and his wife moved to Myrtle Beach. Unfortunately, she died of cancer a few years later. Chuck continued his passion for golf and eventually began to pursue his other passion, traveling. He developed a deep friendship with Barbara Finn who also enjoyed both golf and travel. They were able to enjoy those activities until his health began to decline.
While successful in his professional career, he was also adept at making close friendships that lasted through his various moves and through the years. He could tell long involved jokes with the best of them. Chuck is survived by his sister Barbara Cease, his 4 children (David, Kevin, Karen and Laurie), his 4 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. We all hope now that he can rest easy and be joined in heaven with our mom again. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, January 11, 2021 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Myrtle Beach, SC. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway, SC.
