Charles Krause Obituary

C. Frederick Krause, 83 died Firday, April 1, 2022 in Greenville, South Carolina.

Fred was born on August 21, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Julie Bresson and Frederick Krause. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Irene Wightwick Krause.

Mr. Krause was a graduate of Stepinac High School. He received a B.S. from Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmitsburg Maryland and his Master’s Degree from Fordham University in the Bronx. He taught Biology at Stepinac High School and later at Somers High School for 32 years until his retirement. In addition to teaching, he owned the Putnam Auto Supply in Mohegan Lake. Fred dedicated many years of service as Director of the Lake Carmel Fife and Drum Corp. He also volunteered his time building houses for Habitat for Humanity of Putnam County. He was a former parishioner of Saint James Roman Catholic Church in Carmel, New York.

Fred excelled at playing tennis and was a former member of the Carmel Fitness and Racquet Club. Fred was also an avid fisherman. He loved to fish in the Long Island Sound on his boat the ‘Julie B.’ for blacks, blues, flounder or anything else that would come when he called “here fishy, fishy, fishy”. Fred was a skilled woodworker who spent countless hours in his ‘shop’. He also enjoyed baseball, golf, gardening, and model railroading. Fred will always be remembered sporting a flannel shirt, ripped jeans, and grass stained sneakers. He was a wise and loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his children Patricia and Michael Moran of Greer South Carolina, Cathleen and Peter Passeck of Litchfield Connecticut, and Robert and Caryn Krause of Carmel New York.  As well as five grandchildren; Michael John Moran, Matthew (Gabbi) Moran, Paige Moran, Caitlin Krause, and William Krause. He is also survived by his sister Virginia ‘Sue’ LaSalle and his four nieces Tracy, Teri, Tia, and Trisa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 PM Friday April 8, 2022 at Our Lady Star of The Sea Roman Catholic Church in North Myrtle Beach, SC. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Parkinson"s Foundation: www.parkinson.org.
