Charles Edwin Hawkins Sr.

Charles Edwin Hawkins Sr., age 81, of Myrtle Beach, passed away December 1, 2021. Born on March 3, 1940 in Bay Shore, NY. He was the son of Arthur Romane Hawkins and Dorothy Reeves.

Charlie graduated from Bay Shore High School in 1958 and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. After serving in the Army, Charlie worked for the Bay Shore Brightwaters Public Library as the head custodian from 1962 until 1996 when he retired. Charlie served his community for 38 years as a volunteer Fireman at Bay Shore Fire Department, 49 years as a Freemason, 16 years as an Omar Shriner, and belonged to the Kingfisher’s division and the Chefs. He was an active member of Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church of Conway, SC.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was predeceased by his brother, Arthur Luther Hawkins. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Ann Hawkins; his daughter, Joanne Hawkins-Hagermann and her husband Martin Hagermann; his son Charles Edwin Hawkins, Jr. and his partner; his granddaughter Casey Marie Mocarski her husband Christopher Mocarski; and his great-grandson, Wyatt Alexander Mocarski.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 PM on Monday, December 6, 2021 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
