Charles Bryan “Big Dog” Devereux, 99, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 12, 2025.
He was born on March 13, 1926, in Blackpool, England, son of the late John and Alice Devereux.
Bryan served in the British Airforce as a Physical Trainer towards the end of World War II. In 1949, he immigrated to Canada to start a new life with his wife, Joyce. They had three children and became successful entrepreneurs in the food industry with Devereux Produce. In 1979 he moved his family to Myrtle Beach and then in 1985, he purchased Pier 14 Restaurant, which is still a family run business. He was a proud member of the Dunes Golf and Beach Club, as well as the Alligator Club.
He is survived by Joyce Devereux, his wife of 75 years, and three children, Yvonne Picco, Marc Devereux and Lee Devereux, 4 grandchildren, Tracy (Steve) Pereira, Korry Picco, Jason Devereux and Bryan Devereux as well as 5 great-grandchildren, Lia Pereira, Jayme Pereira, Matthew Pereira, Mila Picco and Charlie Picco.
The family will greet friends and family Thursday, May 15, 2025, at McMillian-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach from 4:00-6:00 PM.
