Obituary

Little River, SC Carroll Ray Bumgardner, 70, passed away peacefully at home on August 22nd under Hospice care. He was born July 3rd 1954 in Gastonia, NC. A son of the late Carroll Roosevelt and Betty Kate Bumgardner. He attended North Gaston High School in Dallas, N.C.

Dad was hard-working and dedicated. He spent 30 years working in Construction Contracting with his Father and nearly 20 years as a Commercial Fisherman out of Little River from South Port, N.C to Georgetown, S.C. with Captain Eugene “Steaming Gene” Thompson. He was known for his sense of humor and good heart. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passions.

Dad's hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tinkering often spending his weekends on some home improvement project for family or neighbors. His love for animals was something he shared with his children, leaving a mark on us that will never fade.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Beverly, sons James Marque of Little River, Carroll Ray II of Gastonia, daughters Paula “Beth” Cline and husband Timothy Pressley of Stanley and Balinda Sue Bumgardner of Gastonia, multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
