Carrie Hucks Inabinet entered into eternal rest Monday, May 12, 2025 at home surrounded by her family and friends. Born September 10, 1924, in Conway, South Carolina, she was the daughter of John Benjamin Hucks and Mamie Hendrick Hucks.
Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, George Marion Inabinet, two brothers, Wayne Hucks and Ryan Hucks, three sisters: Mary Dusenbury, Lella Johnson, and Mamie Leach.
She and her siblings moved to Myrtle Beach in 1944. She began working at Chapin Company in the Ladies Department and joined First Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach where she worshiped for 81 years. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, was an active member of the Louise Springs Circle, and the Wesley Fellowship Class. The friendships that she made at church were near and dear to her heart exemplifying her devout faith. She had a deep love for all the special family events that occurred at the same altar where she and George were married in 1949. Carrie was also a member of the Pierian Book Club for over 60 years.
Carrie and George moved to their home on 40th Avenue in 1950. Her kitchen was her ultimate haven, for she took great pride in planning and cooking meals for those she loved. She was a room mother for all of her children, a member of the PTA, and attended many Seahawk athletic events throughout the years while the children attended the Myrtle Beach Schools.
Surviving are her children, Dr. Buddy Inabinet (Barbara) of Sullivan's Island, SC, Carolyn Streater (John) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Mary Catherine Mattox (Steve) of Mt. Pleasant, SC. She also had four grandchildren: Wes Streater (Cara, Sully, Benny)
Grace McKlveen (Patrick), Stephen Mattox, and Carrie Mattox (Weldon Porcher): great-grandchildren: Paityn and Braydeigh Streater, Parker and JP McKlveen, many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her, and longtime family friend Pearline Bromell.
The family would to extend their endless appreciation to Lena Gettys, Rozella Chestnut, Veronica Parker, Gentiva Hospice, Nancy Whitesides, and Wendy Baguoh, and Right At Home of Surfide, Judy Whittamore, and Deb Elgabroni for the love, ultimate care, and support they shared with "Miss Carrie" and her family.
The Celebration of Life service will be held at First Methodist Church, 901 North Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach SC 29577 on Friday, May 16, at 2:00 PM. Visitation will take place in the sanctuary from 12:30-1:45 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Ocean Woods Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Methodist Church (Parking Lot Fund) PO Box 1367, Myrtle Beach, SC 29578-1367.
