Betty D. Bradshaw, 93, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away April 28, 2023.
She was born April 13, 1930, in Hartville, Ohio, to the late Glenn and Anna Hoover. She lived in Hartville until her marriage to Gerald W. Bradshaw on May 30, 1972. Betty and Gerry made their home in North Canton for 68 years before moving to Myrtle Beach.
Betty received her master’s in teaching at Malone University. She taught first and second grades for 37 + years in North Canton and was still in touch with many of her first grade students to this day. One of her fondest memories when teaching was the in class circus she and the students would do each year. Betty attended First Friends Church and was the treasurer of her Sunday School class. She was very active in the Canton Women’s Club, Ladies Literary, College Club and Malone Alumni. Her greatest joy was her two grandkids and two great grandkids. She attended many soccer games, gymnastic meets, and softball games to cheer them on.
Betty is preceded in death by her sister, Jo Ann Hughes and brother, Bob Hoover.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gerald “Gerry” W. Bradshaw; son, Doug (Jill) Bradshaw, Sr., grandchildren, Doug (Laura) Bradshaw, Jr. and Lauren (Ben) Cantwell; great grandchildren, Ava Bradshaw and Elton Bradshaw; sister, Debbie (Moyer) Ayers; nephews, Patrick (Erin) Ayers, Luca and James Ayers; and niece, Anna (Casey) Costa.
Betty’s family would like to thank those who sent her so many cards, notes of encouragement and faith and prayers, these last few months. They really brought great joy to her.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Betty’s name, one of her favorite Charities.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 6, 2023, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home Chapel, 910 67th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:00 AM prior to the service on Saturday. Graveside service will follow at Southern Palms Memorial Gardens, North Myrtle Beach, SC.
