Barry Maynor Obituary

Barry Alan Maynor, born on August 7, 1947, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, took his final golf swing and left this course on January 5, 2024. He was a beloved member of the Greensboro, North Carolina and Myrtle Beach community, leaving behind a legacy of love and lasting memories.

Born to Hazel and Luther Maynor, Barry was the eldest of six siblings, including Nadia Maynor (deceased), Geoffrey Maynor(Sharon Maynor), Kim Maynor (deceased), Stephanie McIntyre (Richard McIntyre), and Melanie Lowe(Jay Lowe). Barry cherished his big family, forming close bonds with his siblings, nieces, and nephews.

He attended Page High School, in Greensboro, NC, then continued his studies at the University of North Carolina for undergrad and dental school. He was a die-hard Tarheel. He practiced dentistry in Greensboro for an impressive 40 years before he retired.

Barry married Betty Maynor, and together, they shared a life filled with love and laughter. Barry's devotion to family extended to his children Barrie Vela (Anthony Vela), Wendy Ozmar (Joe Hammett), and Tara Chischportich (Stephan Chischportich). Barry embraced fatherhood with passion, being a guiding force in the lives of his three daughters, his son-in-laws, and his six grandchildren, enjoying the unique relationships he built with each of them.

Known for his passion for golf and boating, Barry lived his life to the fullest. He was a leader, teacher, and coach, displaying his intelligence and determination in everything he did. As a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, he left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.

As we bid farewell to Barry Maynor, we are left with the comforting thought that he is now playing golf in his beloved Carolina blue sky. His memory, voice, and wise words will forever resonate in the hearts and minds of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
