Barbara J Kohler, 71 of Myrtle Beach, SC passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026.
She was born October 2, 1954 in Yonkers, NY , daughter of the late Peter and Martha (Herko) Pallak. She leaves her loving husband and partner of nearly 50 years, Thomas “Tom” R Kohler. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Nancy Stone and husband Paul; Martha Pietri and husband Michel; as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Barbara graduated from high school in Yonkers, NY in 1972 and attended Lehman College in Bronx, NY. She started out working in banking in the greater New York City area and then spent the rest of her career providing systems support to the warehouses of TJX Corp in Framingham, MA. After retiring, Barbara and Tom moved to Myrtle Beach, SC in 2005.
Barbara was known for being a knowledgeable gift and clothes finder and shared those skills with friends and family. She would spend the entire year researching and looking for gifts for Christmas and birthdays as she and Tom traveled around the country. When visitors came to town she would plan and lead them on excursions to shops that catered precisely to their tastes. Barbara was also an excellent self-taught chef. Similar to her gift finding skills, she would be constantly seeking out new recipes and where best to find the ingredients.
An avid sports enthusiast, Barbara was a big fan of the Boston Celtics, the Red Sox, the New England Patriots and professional tennis. Many locals would recognize the license plate on her Solara convertible which was “REDSOXX”. Her favorite song was the Red Sox theme song “Sweet Caroline”. She and Tom traveled around the Southeast often to watch away games of their teams and went up to New York City many times to see the US Open Tennis tournament.
Barbara will be missed by many.
